Mira's fifth month was such a blur with the move. Hopefully I can remember all the highlights.
Here's my best shot:
- At the start of the fifth month, I decided to stop breast-feeding and do formula full-time. It was a relief for me and Mira didn't mind. As long as she gets her bottle, she is fine.
- Mira also got the pleasure of starting solids this last month. We started with rice cereal once a day. She wasn't too sure of what to do and didn't really like it. I tried for about a week and then after talking with our daycare provider, I added some applesauce to the cereal. This seemed to help and then about a week later she figured it out and was eating like a pro.
- Now she is up to two "meals" a day. She gets cereal with fruit for lunch and then I give her veggies at night. So far she has tried applesauce, pears, peaches, bananas, sweet potatoes, peas and even green beans. So far she hasn't rejected anything. She's quite the eater! She got the pleasure of sucking on some real watermelon last weekend too. That was a big hit!
- On the milestone front, she is rolling over both ways now. We really have to watch her more now. She can log roll across the floor, do a 360 degree turn and scooch for things. We've had her sitting up on her own but she usually topples over and does a nose dive into the carpet. Won't be long and she'll be sitting up on her own and even crawling.
- Just yesterday we noticed that a little tooth has poked through! It won't be long and she'll have her first tooth. It's the little things that excite us now!
- She loves to watch the kitties run around the house, play with her girlfriends at daycare, swivel in her exersaucer and suck on her toes. What a life!
