Shower Dates

I'm so excited that the shower dates have been set and invites are on their way. I decided to have one in Omaha and one in Fairbury so people wouldn't have to travel as far in this crappy weather. I can't wait to see everyone and show off my ever growing bump. Monte calls me "pie slice" now because I always have a little bit of tummy hanging out under my shirt. :)

I have to say that at this moment Elise is my favorite name too. Who knows if this will change as the due date approaches. You'll have to just wait and see!!

Everyone has told me to have a couple of names ready and when she comes out you'll know which name fits. Hopefully we won't have any surprises and see a little boy pop out.

Survived our First Baby Class!

I managed to get Monte to attend a baby class at UNMC yesterday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It was a long day but very informative. We learned a wide range of things including: the stages of labor, birthing positions, pain management, emergency procedures, lamaze breathing techniques and how to care for the baby. We even made it through the birth videos. They were more comical than terrifying because they were shot in 1980.

We also got to tour the birthing and postpartum rooms. We were pleasantly surprised to see how comfortable and homey they were. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I can get a room with a jacuzzi tub in it.

We get a free breast-feeding class with this class so that may be our next endeavor. I don't know how successful I will be in getting Monte to that one. :)

Feeling Overwhelmed!

Today we went and registered for baby necessities. I was expecting this to be lots of fun but it turned out to be overwhelming. Monte and I were both exhausted afterwards. It was all a blur and by the time we got home I couldn't remember a single item we registered for.
Who knew it could be so stressful picking out diapers. (Brand, size, quantity...) And don't get me started about the frustration in the bottle/nipple/pacifier aisle.
I've heard that it's all trial and error and every baby is different. It would be nice to know which items are absolutely necessary and which ones are a waste of money. For all you mommies out there, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
